Longridge made the short journey to Poulton looking to keep up their league title challenge.

Keefe and Gornall had captain Donnelly back after suspension.

The game kicked off in very wild conditions, with Longridge having to defend against a very strong wind, with the ball spending a lot of time in the air.

Longridge defended as a unit and were looking to break when they had the ball.

With 20 minutes played, Longridge took the lead.

Ross delivered a free-kick into the Poulton penalty box, and when the ball broke to Heywood he laid it off to Wilkinson, who drove the ball home.

Longridge concentrated on defending, and with Poulton not really testing Hind in the Longridge goal, the referee blew for half-time.

In the second period, Longridge had the wind behind them, and they attacked from the off, pushing Poulton to defend deep.

With just 10 minutes played, Longridge extended their lead, when a long ball was misjudged by the Poulton defence and Dean produced a smart finish, flicking the ball home with his right foot.

Longridge were now in total control, and on the hour mark extended their lead. Ross found Dean with a long ball out of defence, and the big centre-forward again produced a smart finish with his right foot.

With the clock ticking down, Longridge scored the goal of the game. Merch and Dean worked the ball to English, and he produced a great cross that Daley met at the front post on the half-volley and the ball flashed into the top corner.

A very good performance by all the Longridge team in very testing conditions.

Keefe and Gornall will be pleased with the clean sheet, and the squad will be full of confidence going into the Easter double header, firstly away to Vickerstown on Satiurday, then the top-of-the-table clash on Easter Monday away to Charnock Richard, both 3pm kick-offs.
