Garstang boss Lee Baker believes the familiar faces will emerge from the pack to contest the West Lancashire League Premier Division title.
Longridge Town and Blackpool Wren Rovers staged a two-horse battle for much of last season before Lee Ashcroft’s players lifted the trophy on the final day.
Ashcroft has gone on record as saying he thinks it will be a much tighter season this time around.
It’s a notion that Baker doesn’t discount entirely with his side sitting third in the table with 10 points; three adrift of Blackpool Wren Rovers as the Courier went to press on Tuesday.
“I still think you’ll see the same ones at the top; Longridge, Wrens, Euxton will do what they do,” he said.
“They will always be top-five clubs and I think Fulwood Amateurs will have a go at it as well.
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised either if Burscough Richmond are also up there.
“We played them last year in the cup and you don’t win the LFA Shield or get promoted if you’re a bad team.”
