Garstang FC boss Iain Swan was again left frustrated after the weather forced opponents Mill Hill St Peter’s to call off their league meeting.
Frozen and waterlogged pitches caused the postponement of four fixtures in the West Lancashire League Division One on the weekend.
The Riversiders were left sidelined for the second week on the trot following the cancellation of their first-round Lancashire League President’s Cup match against Hawcoat Park.
And Swan said the postponed matches were disappointing for the players looking to keep their momentum into the new year.
He said: “It is difficult, training on Thursday only to find out that the game has been called off on Saturday morning.
“We need to maintain the enthusiasm and momentum that has seen us achieve a good position in the league.”
Saturday’s game at Mill Hill would have been Garstang’s fifteenth game of the season and a chance to add points before the end of the year.
Eleven of their fixtures so far been played away from home and Swan is hoping with a run of home games for the second half of the season, a similar tally of points will put the side in the mix for promotion just a year after falling out of the Premier Division.
But he added he is determined to turn the team’s draws into wins.
“I will pick a team to win the game, rarely will I accept a draw as a good result.”
Garstang are hoping for the right result this weekend when they are due to host Hawcoat Park in the league with a 2pm kick-off.
