Garstang FC squad hopes to hit their fundraising target
Garstang FC’s players are racking up the miles in a bid to help those less fortunate.
With the North West Counties Football League season on hold as a result of the pandemic, the Riversiders’ squad has hit upon a fundraising idea.
They have joined forces with the Bellflower to try and raise money for their foodbank initiative and other projects.
Consequently, the first-team squad has set a target of running 3,000km by February 8.
Each day they will upload their runs to a private group and each run will then be taken from the target.
A club statement said: “The players wanted to put something back into the local community and to have a positive impact at such a negative and difficult time for many who are less fortunate.
“With other sports teams from around the North West all chipping in around their local area we feel this is a big chance for the community to join together and do something positive in such a negative time for many less fortunate people.
“Our social media accounts will provide regular updates on their progress.”
The players are aiming to raise £1,000 through donations and sponsorships with the total currently standing at £450.
