Garstang FM 3

Longton 1

After two previous dogged performances Garstang lined up with four regulars missing and didn’t expect a good result.

Kicking off the first half the defence was kept busy with Aubrey Grizedale and Johnny Leach managing to protect the Garstang goal and stopped a single chance occurring for Longton.

The second half started well with Luke Carter breaking down the right to feed a great cross for Adam Franks to calmly slot home. Franks was never far away from the action all game and when Garstang had a free kick on the edge of the Longton box he calmly bent it round the wall to make it 2-0.

Garstang should have kept a clean sheet with keeper Michael Firth barely tested but Longton broke the tight defence to make it 3-1 near the end of the 90 minutes.

Three wins out of three takes Garstang to joint top. Next Saturday Garstang are at home at Catterall in the league cup to Lancaster ko 2pm.
