Tempest Utd Res ...........4

Garstang Res ................1

Football is a funny old game and this one proved the point several times over.

Skelly for the home side could have scored two in the first three minutes and then in a three-minute period Garstang had three chances to go ahead with Matichechia’s chance cleared off the line being the closest.

On 17 and 19 minutes Barnes and Skelly for Tempest got free with balls over the top and both shot wide.

On 36 minutes a Tempest free kick was cleared out to Marshall whose shot skimmed the bar.

Having missed five good chances the hosts paid the penalty when Joe Miller powered home a header from a corner kick to make the half time score 1-0 to Garstang.

Garstang should have been three up not long into the second half after Panepinto played in Graham who missed his shot, then Swindlehurst hit the bar before Graham crossed for Panepinto who skimmed the ball onto the bar from six yards.

But a few minutes later they were 2-1 down when first Fisher, who looked suspiciously offside, poked in the equaliser and then Skelly scored with a free header.

With eight minutes to go, stand in Garstang keeper Southward made a fine save and the ball was cleared to the other end where Dave Jack found himself unmarked 12 yards out but he failed to hit the target.

Instead of being 2-2 another ball not dealt with over the top let in Skelly who made it 3-1 and a minute later more poor defending let in Keegan to finish the game
