Preston Schools' finals special
Seven finals were held at PNE’s ground on Saturday, with more than 1,100 people passing through the turnstiles.
Co-organiser Paul Whelan said: “It was a brilliant day, everything ran so smoothly.

Hide Ad“During the day we had 1,132 fans in the ground which was a fantastic turnout for schools’ football.
“The football played was of a good standard and there were some great goals.
“It was great that so many children got the chance to play at Deepdale, following in the footsteps of the PNE players.
“On behalf of the organisers and everyone involved, we would like to thank North End, they were excellent hosts.”

Hide AdThe first action of the day saw Archbishop Temple beat Our Lady’s Catholic High 4-2 in the Under-14s girls’ Dixon Cup.
Our Lady and St Edward’s RC Primary beat Broughton Primary 1-0 to win the Under-11s Harold Slater Shield.
The Under-12s Mick Baxter Cup was won by Broughton High, after a 1-0 win over Corpus Christi.
Broughton High beat Our Lady’s 4-1 to triumph in the Jack May Cup at Under-13 slevel.

Hide AdThe same schools competed for the Under-14s William Dawson Cup, with Broughton running out 2-1 winners.
Ashton High and Corpus Christi shared the Under-15s Ord/Hargreaves Cup after a 0-0 draw.
Archbishop Temple won the Lucas Shield in the Under-16s age group, beating Ashton High 3-1.
