Garstang FC continue their preparations for the new season, buoyed by the club’s off-field developments over the summer.
Having returned to pre-season training last week, the club is continuing the build-up to the new season with another week of training before they start pre-season friendlies.
The first of those is a week on Saturday, July 16, when they host Squires Gate (3pm).
That warm-up continues with a game against Poulton Town at Poolfoot on July 19 (7.30pm), followed by the Adam Swanwick Memorial match with Padiham on July 23 and the Wilf Carr Memorial Cup tie at Blackpool Wren Rovers a week later (both 3pm).
Among the off-field arrivals over the summer as Lee Baker embarks on his first full season in charge is assistant manager Neil Beesley.
Beesley was the Garstang goalkeeper when the club last won the West Lancashire Premier League in 2008.
He also played at Lancaster City and Squires Gate FC and his move back to the Riverside sees him link up again with Baker, a team-mate from those days.
A club spokesperson said: “Getting Neil on board is a massive boost to the club and we now have a young, dynamic management team who have already started to get next season’s squad into shape.”
The club has also announced details of its latest youth team trial; it takes place on Monday, July 11, at Garstang Community Academy, beginning at 7pm.
Anyone is welcome to attend and try out for next season’s team provided they are over the age of 15 but under 18 on August 31 this year.
Anyone interested in trying out should contact youth team manager Steve Smith on 07585 901112.
