Haslingden Res 0

Garstang FC Res 1

Garstang Reserves picked up a very good three points at high flyers Haslingden but it is not a game that will live long in the memory.

Defences dominated the game from start to finish, with Garstang failing to manage one shot on target in the first half and Haslingden’s one chance well saved by Curwen.

Garstang dominated territorially after the break but without any clear cut chances for the forwards.

The defence led by Miller remained solid, denying Haslingden a break-through.

It was on 60 minutes the visitors had a series of corners but apart from the odd scramble, they amounted to nothing.

But heading into the last 10 minutes Garstang took the lead, Stuart sending through to Panepinto who laid the ball across the 18 yard line for Swindlehurst to hit a slightly mis-hit shot which keeper Bell dived to his right to save.

As the ball travelled into the box Stuart stuck out a foot and diverted it past the wrong- footed keeper.

Haslingden were unable to mount any sort of a come back and Garstang were delighted to seal a deserved victory.

Garstang: Curwen, C Matichechia, Sutcliff, Baldwin, Miller, Swindlehurst, Ireland, Southward, Graham, Panepinto, Roskell. Subs: Stuart (for Graham 73) Asselone (for Panepinto 82).
