Longridge were looking to maintain the top spot in the division with the visit of Coppull.

Keefe and Gornall had a full squad to choose from with Merch back from suspension.

On a heavy pitch, the first 10 minutes were pretty even with both teams struggling to get a foothold in the game. On the 10 minute mark it was Coppull who had the first chance when the number 10 picked out his team mate who drove a powerful shot that saw Hind produce a fine save to tip the ball around the post for a corner.

The game was still very even but it was the home side who took the lead – a long ball was sent up field and Dean held off two challenges to flick the ball on to Coar and the big number nine struck home from just inside the box.

With five minutes left of the half Longridge extended their lead.

The ball found Melling on the right and he looked up before producing a superb cross to Dean who got high above his marker and headed home for a excellent goal with the referee blowing soon after for half time.

The second half began with Longridge making a change – Merch replacing English in midfield.

The pitch became very heavy but with captain Donnelly leading by example, Longridge took the sting out of the game and on 10 minutes they extended their lead.

The ball again found Melling and again with his right foot produced another fine cross which found St Vall and he headed home beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.

Longridge added a fourth in injury time. A back pass was mis-controlled by the Coppull keeper, and St Vall nipped in to finish coolly from a tight angle.

Another solid performance by Longridge against a decent Coppull team and they still remain three points clear at the top with 13 games left and now the squad can concentrate on the big game coming up Wednesday night with the LFA shield semi-final against Eagley at Padiham C (7.30pm kick-off).
