IN front of 200 supporters at Lancaster City’s Giant Axe in the League Cup final, Garstang should have been one up when Andrew Gant narrowly shot wide.

Half-an-hour in, and the midfield combination of Andy Whillans and Dave Jenner nearly paid off when Jenner struck from 30 yards out, but the Lancaster keeper somehow managed to tip the ball round the post.

At this point there was nothing in the game but Lancaster turned the screw and started to dominateand were 1-0 ahead at half time.

The second half started brightly for Spartans, but Lancaster caught Garstang twice on the break to deservedly win 3-0.
