Fulledge Colts 2 Garstang Yth 1

Garstang bowed out of the Lancashire cup following a last minute defeat over in Burnley.

The first 20 minutes was an even affair but Fulledge took the lead in the 25th minutes when they broke quickly from a Garstang corner and the ball was in the back of the net before they had chance to recover.

The visitors fought back well and the home keeper somehow scooped a goal- bound effort over the bar and Applegate fired wide having broken free of his marker.

With the advantage of the slope in the second half Garstang pressed from the start. Moss was getting some space on the right wing and a pinpoint cross from him was headed the wrong side of the post by Mullin.

All the pressure was from Garstang but they were unable to get past the excellent Colts keeper. At the other end Graham in the Garstang goal had to be alert on a couple of occasions to keep the game alive.

With 15 minutes to go Garstang equalised when a free kick came off a defender and found its way into the corner of the net and at this point looked the favourites to go on and win it. However with the clock ticking into the 89th minute a defensive lapse lead to Fulledge scoring the winner.

Unfortunately for Garstang the only two defensive mistakes in the game were both punished with goals and missed chances at the other end meant an exit from the cup but there were still a lot of positives from the game.
