‘B’ team notch up first Premier table tennis success

In the Lancaster & Morecambe league Garstang Table Tennis Club B team claimed their first win in the Premier Division with a 25-9 victory over Lancaster B.

Amy Wells won all three of her matches in her first outing, Dave Holroyd added two more, victory in the doubles and a win for Jim Vasey completed a successful evening.

Meanwhile the A team lost out 22-19 in a close encounter with University A, Graham Coupe won two and narrowly missed out on a third, both Stuart Southward and Luke McGrath were unlucky not to add a win, both losing twice in five ends. Graham and Stuart teamed up to take the doubles.

In the First Division, Garstang D are top thanks to a comprehensive 24-6 defeat of University C. Mike Charters and Tommy Kennedy were undefeated winning three each, and they also teamed up to take the doubles, John Allen added the final win.

Garstang C sit in third place, again thanks to a victory over University D, 25-8. Captain Kevin Aughton won all of his three matches, Joseph Peat and Thomas Gorst added two each and teamed up to take the doubles.

In the Preston League, Garstang A sit second in the Premier table after a 5-5 draw with Kirkham, Graham Coupe and Martin Wyatt winning two each, Chris Knowles added another.

Meanwhile, in Division One the B team also claimed a 5-5 draw, away at Croston. Mike Armishaw won two, Adam Soar and Rebecca Hodgson added one and victory in the doubles meant the honours were shared.
