Cancer charity seeking runners

The Great Daffodil Appeal is now in full swing, and Marie Curie Cancer Care is looking for runners to join its ever-growing Daffodil Team for the Manchester Marathon in April, and Great Manchester Run in May.

If you have your own place in one of the runs already, but haven’t yet chosen or considered a charity to run for, then Marie Curie Cancer Care would like you to consider them. The charity also has a number of guaranteed charity places in both events.

Sam James, event fund-raiser said: “Running for the Daffodil Team means you get a great support network for your run, from pre-race advice and support including training tips and fundraising help, plus you also get a very special Nike Dri-fit vest in which to run.

“On the day of the run, you will be cheered on by our colourful cheer stations, and there are free refreshments available at the charity village at the end of the run.

“At the Great Manchester Run we even provide a massage for aching muscles.”

Monies raised for the charity will pay for nursing care in your local community, which is given free to people with cancer and terminal illness, to allow them to remain in their homes surrounded by their families in their last days.

If you would like to register for a guaranteed charity place in either run, or have your own place already and would like to join the Daffodil Team to raise cash for this cause, call the Runs Team on 0845 052 4184, or go to
