After several years of being wet, cold and/or windy, the weather stayed dry for Stonyhurst Park Golf Club’s Annual Charity Day Competition.

Twenty-seven teams entered, and after playing they enjoyed a dinner at The Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green, where additional funds for the three charities the club are supporting were raised via an auction and raffle.

A total in excess of £6,000 was raised on the day, so each charity will receive £2,000.

The competition was won by a team from Hurst Green captained by John Carrington.

Second was a team from Mellor captained by Jim Walker, SPGC’s captain elect.

Third was Kingspan, who are long-term supporters of the annual charity day.

The weather was also kind for The Max Aitken Trophy, a strokeplay competition, which was won by WT Mason with a score of 79.16.63.

Second was AF Young with a score of 81.13.68 and third, after a card play off was SYoung with a score of 74.6.68.
