A strong performance by the junior players has seen Garstang Table Tennis Club make a good start to the new season.
At the Lancashire trials, Kelly Southward was the star of the show, finishing fourth and securing her place in the Lancashire team.
Southward was also invited to compete in the qualification event for the National Championships, narrowly missing out on countback.
In the Preston league Garstang A sit in third place in the Premier Division thanks to four league victories in a row, the squad also started well in the cup competitions with victories over BAE in the Knockout cup and Fulwood Methodists in the Handicap cup.
The B team have had a mixed start in Division One – after four matches they sit mid-table, largely thanks to an 8-2 defeat to top team Riverside.
In the Lancaster & Morecambe league Garstang A have got their season off to a good start. Two cup victories, over Trimpell Bulldogs and St Lukes A have seen them through to the final of the Kennon Trophy, and a comprehensive 30-0 victory over Garstang B has improved their fortunes in the league.
Garstang C are also through to a cup final, this time the Kennon Trophy, thanks to wins over Garstang D and Ripley Barbarians.
For Garstang B life in the Premier division is looking tough, after a 30-0 defeat to last years champions Trimpell Rapters, they then endured the same scoreline to Garstang A.
