Rising star Amy kicks off with victory double

Rising star Amy Wells has had a great start to her final season as a junior with Garstang Table Tennis Club.

The young talent claimed a double victory after winning the 2 Star tournament in Halifax and the junior girls title at the Blackpool 2 Star.

This weekend sees Amy in action again, this time at Derby playing for Lancashire alongside another Garstang player Kelly Southward.

Meanwhile club player Luke McGrath helped his team move to second place in the Lancaster & Morecambe League Premier Division after a double-win over St Lukes.

The overall score finished in a 5-5 draw. Luke partnering sub Dave Holroyd to earn victory in the doubles and Stuart Southward and Dave each picking up a win to level the match.

The B-team struggled in their game against a strong University A team and came out on the wrong end of a 9-1 scoreline, only Dave Holroyd picked up a win with a 3-0 victory over Reeve Lo.

In Division One Garstang D sit on top of the table after a 6-4 win over St Lukes C, Tommy Kennedy won all three for the home side, Owen Bendall added two more and together they claimed victory in the doubles.

And the Garstang C team claimed their second league win of the year with a 7-3 finish over University C, sub Tommy Kennedy won all three, Joseph Peat won two and Thomas Gorst won one. Victory in the doubles completed the win.

In the Preston League Division One, Garstang B sit mid-table after a 6-4 win over Jacobeaus A. The A team are still in second place in the Premier Division after a 5-5 draw with GRYF A.

In the Preston League Garstang A continued their unbeaten start to the season with yet another draw, the third in a row, Martin Wyatt and Ashley Bradburn both won two, but both lost out to the firepower of Andy Clarke, victory in the doubles gave the Garstang side the draw.

This follows on from a draw the week before with GRYF A, Martin Wyatt claiming three wins.
