Golf students from Myerscough College have been rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s top golf players in Turkey.

Last week 42 students got the opportunity to fly out to work at a major PGA European Tour event at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Resort in Belek, Antalya.

The party of students and staff spent the week amongst some of the game’s top players, including Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Jamie Donaldson, Luke Donald, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Colin Montgomerie, who designed the course.

Students were on site to help caddy, score, and board carry as well as managing the practice ground and media liaison duties.

Course Leader in Golf Management at Myerscough College, Rick Daniels, said: “The party performed admirably throughout the week and the feedback from organisers has been excellent. We’re already looking at returning next year and making this a regular part of what we

offer.”

A spokesperson for tournament promoters, International Sports Management (ISM) said:“The students were absolutely fantastic and their work ethic and input into the tournament was unbelievable. From the volunteers side we wouldn’t have had such a successful tournament without Myerscough’s involvement.

“It would be our pleasure and greatest hope that Myerscough will return next year.

At the end of the event the Myerscough group played their own min-tournament on the course, with a host of autographed souvenirs donated to the college by the players as a token of their appreciation.
