Garstang Running Club saw eight members compete in the final race of the Mid-Lancashire Cross-Country Running League at Ulverston.
The race, hosted by Glaxo Hoad Hill Harriers, was held just as the weather was starting to improve following the ‘Beast from the East’.
There were 94 runners in the ladies’ race over a distance of 6.4 K.
First in for Garstang was Amie McAvoy, who finished an excellent 32nd in 32:43.
She was followed by the ever-improving Claire Godfrey in 40th position (33:33).
Next up was the fast improving Elizabeth Anderson in 59th place with 35:33, just beating Sheena Cottam in 61st (35:38).
Mary Hewitt and Julia Patefield continued their season-long battle with the honours going to Hewitt, who finished 73rd (39:09) with Patefield 74th (39:24).
Those results meant that the ladies’ senior A team finished 14th and the B team was 19th, while the veteran 35 team finished 10th and the veteran 45 team sixth.
The senior men’s race, which was run over a distance of 9.4K, attracted an entry of 163 runners.
While the men did not have a team the two Garstang runners in action both acquitted themselves well.
First in for Garstang was Simon Gora in 80th place (40:46) with Graham Hobson finishing 150th (48:33).
