With a delayed push back Garstang were keen to start. Play started brightly with lots of goal scoring opportunities not being converted.

Lindsay Thornhill, Lyndsey Hayes and Josie Rice were displaying great vision as they distributed the ball well from the middle of the park.

Rossall knew that they were in for a tough match and crammed the attacking D with all 11 players making it very difficult for Garstang to convert.

The half time whistle went and the score line still stood at 0-0.

After the half time team talk Garstang knew that they were going to have to draw the play out in order to score. Within 10 minutes Catherine Godbold won a penalty corner.

A great strike from winger, and player of the match, Alice Matthews opened the scoring. Vicky Bradley, Debs Huyton, Donna Richardson and Nikki Oddie were passing the ball around the back very confidently and were drawing Rossall players out of their half.

Fran Summers and Becky Worthington were running riot around the Rossall defence going very close to scoring on many occasions. With another penalty corner being awarded, Alice Matthews took great pleasure in rattling the backboard once again.

The final whistle went with Garstang having played a good game of hockey and maintaining a significant amount of possession throughout.
