The Meningitis Trust wants runners from Wyre who receive a ballot place in this year’s London Marathon, to join its team and have superhero status.

In return for raising £50 – or more if you can – the charity says it will provide you with one of the best running packages available.

There will also be a meet and greet at the finish line with transport to a post-race reception, where you will be provided with lots of refreshments, a sports massage and shower and changing facilities to help with recovery after the race, and a free goody bag.

Friends and family are also welcome at the reception.

Prior to the marathon, the trust is offering support with training, fundraising, a registration pack with lots of diet tips to help you in your build up, and a Meningitis Trust running vest with iron on letters of your choice.

There will also be a cheering point at mile 23, to give you that all-important pick-up to get you to the finish line.

Becky Jones, London Marathon co-ordinator at the Meningitis Trust, said: “We rely on the generosity of individuals to continue our vital work; supporting anyone affected by meningitis with free, professional services, as well as raising lifesaving awareness of the disease and its symptoms. For the many people who have been, and continue to be, affected by meningitis, and for those who will sadly be affected in the future, the trust is a lifeline. Events such as the London Marathon ensure that this lifeline can continue.”
