PHOTOS: Chipping Steam Fair is record breaker

The sun shone for three superb days as crowds from far and wide descended into the Green Lane showground to celebrate the popular three-day event over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

This year’s new attraction, the “Food Hall”, was stocked full to the brim with local fine food and produce. Organisers say it will defiantly be a regular feature at the show and may even be bigger next time.

Speaking about the success of the show, which this year celebrated its 17th year, a spokesman said: “We think we broke our daily attendance record this year on Saturday. Our almost continuous live entertainment programme ran smoothly and on Saturday evening, BBC celebrity Paul Hayes from ‘Cash in the Attic’, brought his band ‘The Paul Hayes Collection’ and played to a bouncing Beer Tent – he was a great hit. Sunday we had the biplane fly over, which was unbelievable, plus a great display in the arena from Pendle dog agility.

“We had a fantastic turnout from the classic cars section and an even bigger military display. Every year our tractor numbers rise and this year was no exception with over 200 models. This year we have introduced a new trophy for our lady tractor owners.

“Social media has been buzzing all weekend with such wonderfully positive feedback, which makes all the hard work worthwhile. Not to mention all the local charities and good causes we do this for – all proceeds will be awarded to these in the coming months.

“Thanks to all our visitors supporters and volunteers – without you all we wouldn’t be able to run this well-oiled machine that is Chipping Steam Fair, which was a huge success once again.”
