Garstang CC and Longridge CC go their separate ways after first group stage
Garstang CC and Longridge CC will go down different paths following the end of the first group stage in this season’s cricket programme.
Last Saturday saw the conclusion of stage one in the amalgamated Northern League and Palace Shield competition for 2020.
Garstang’s comfortable victory against Great Eccleston, coupled with Longridge’s narrow loss to group winners Fulwood and Broughton, saw Mark Walling’s players leapfrog their Newsham counterparts into second place at the end of their initial five-match programme.
Stage two takes place over the next three Saturdays and sees the sides meeting similarly-placed clubs from each of the other level one groups.
In Garstang’s case, they will now come up against St Annes and Leyland, both of whom topped their groups, as well as another second-placed side in Morecambe.
As for Longridge, they face another third-placed club in Kendal in addition to Lytham and Euxton, both of whom took fourth place in their respective sections.
