Garstang CC are stumped as Longridge CC claim Riverside victory
Longridge CC made it three wins from three in the Northern Premier Cricket League with victory at Garstang on Saturday.
Nick Wilkinson’s players were 100-run winners at the Riverside and sit top of the table, level with Netherfield.
Longridge had chosen to bat first and posted 195-4 at the end of their 50 overs.
Opener Luke Platt led the way for the visitors, carrying his bat for an undefeated 85.
Fellow opener Josh Mullin had reached 27 before he was the first to go, dismissed by Ian Walling (1-52).
James Whitehead (11) followed before Platt and Zac Christie established a key partnership.
That ended when Christie departed for 47, bowled by Danny Gilbert who also accounted for Dan Wilkinson Jnr 14 on his way to figures of 2-63.
Thomas Turner (2 not out) was also there at the close as Longridge set their hosts what looked like a challenging run chase.
It was one they were unable to carry off with a number of low scores eventually seeing them all out for 95 midway through the 41st over.
Jon Millward continued his good start to the season with a couple of early wickets in taking 2-31.
It was Daniel Wilson who led the way, however, picking up 4-29 from 14 overs.
That included the wicket of top scorer Michael Wellings (37), as well as those of Mark Walling (6), Ian Walling (1) and Ben Woodruff (0), and the run out of Matt Crowther (8).
Another run out saw Caleb Bradford account for Dan Curwen (1), while Bradford also sent back Mohammed Yusuf (13) and ended the match with the wicket of Adam Ball (0) as he took 2-11.
