Garstang CC await news on overseas professional's availability

Garstang CC may have to come up with an alternative arrangement for this season in terms of engaging a professional.

The club had been due to field Indian batsman Punit Bisht this year after a highly successful 2019 campaign.

However, the pandemic and the difficulties regarding international travel mean Garstang have had to sub-pro in the first two league games with Mattie McKiernan and Brett Pelser featuring for them.

Skipper Mark Walling said: “At this moment in time, we’re trying to sort something out but it’s a difficult situation and we’re looking at alternative options.

“It’s going to be close as we have until May to have all the documents in – and that’s including his travel visa.

“It’s unfortunate and very frustrating for everyone but this is the time that we’re in.

“We’re back playing cricket, which is the main thing, and we’ve managed to get three games in so far with two wins and one loss to start the season.”
