Garstang CC miss out on a final flourish this season
Garstang CC fell short in their bid to reach the elite level gold final in this year’s one-off event for Northern League and Palace Shield clubs.
Having progressed through two group stages to reach the semi-final, Mark Walling’s players lost by 12 runs to Chorley on Saturday.
Chorley batted first at the Riverside and compiled 146-7 from their 40 overs.
Ian Walling picked up a couple of early wickets for Garstang on his way to figures of 2-13 before Chorley steadied the ship.
They were led by Gaurav Dhar, who top-scored with 41, though there were other good contributions from Andrew Holdsworth (26), Harry Barclay (23) and Will Moulton (21).
Toby Lush (2-35) and Fayaz Ughradar (2-38) also took wickets for Garstang, who were all out for 134 with two-and-a-half overs of their reply remaining.
A few of their batsmen got starts, notably Mohammed Yusuf (28) and Ian Walling (20) but wickets fell regularly.
Dhar followed up his batting exploits with 3-18, while Louis Johnson claimed 3-10 as Chorley set up a final against Blackpool to be played on Saturday.
