Garstang RUFC bring through the next generation

Garstang RUFC’s mini and junior section has announced details of the sides it will be running for the 2016/17 season.

The club will be running sides at Under-6 (school years reception and year one), Under-7 (year two), Under-8 (year three), Under-9 (year four) Under-10 (year five), Under-11 (year six), Under-12 (year seven) in the minis section.

There will also be teams at Under-13 (year eight), a combined Under-14 and Under-15 side (years nine and 10) and an combined Under-16 and Under-17 side (years 11 and lower sixth).

Each age group trains on a Sunday morning on Hudson Park and over the season there will be a mix of training, home and away matches and multi team tournaments.

The club will be hosting a summer camp from August 24-26, running from 8.30am-4pm each day.

Open to children aged between five and 15, the camp will be a mixture of rugby related training and games.

The new season starts on Sunday, September 4 (9.30am) with a registration morning and the opening training sessions taking place on Hudson Park.

A club spokesman said: “The club’s ethos is that everybody is treated as an equal and whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, the opportunities to enjoy rugby, both playing, training and the social side are all available to you.

“We look forward to seeing everybody, old players, new players and returning players and feel that next season will be a very exciting one for the club and the children both on and off the pitch.”
