A great game to watch on Saturday with some flowing team play, consistent passing and determination to win every ball led to a 5-0 win against Lancaster University.

Goal number one came from a crash cross from Di Roe finished off in style with a first time sweep high into the net from Catherine Godbold.

Following some excellent switching play by the defence ending up on the opposition’s ankle, a short corner was deftly landed into the back of the goal by Fran Summers.

Third goal came from a diagonal pass by Fran Summers taking out two defenders followed by a strike from Catherine Godbold ricocheting over the back of the net over a prostrate goalie. Play hardly hit the opposition’s 25 with three goals to Garstang before half time.

It was almost four after some stunning passing play through the midfield from Rebecca Worthington and Fran Summers, ending with an amazing high shot by Di Roe which was only stopped by a brilliant hand save by the opposition goalie.

Second half saw play move swiftly up the up pitch and found Rebecca Worthington one on one with the goalie, a dive to save the ball but Worthington stayed with it and the ball was skilfully played into the back of the net.

A first for Becky for Garstang 1’s. Final goal of the day came from a speedy run round the defenders from Fran Summers with Rachel Roe in the right place at the right time scoring her first goal for the firsts.

Great game all round with some quality passing play, working strongly round the back to switch from right to left. Determined commitments from everyone ensured we got to the ball first on many occasions with specific mention for Josie Rice and Donna Richardson for some outstanding runs to beat the opposition to the ball.

The last five minutes saw the opposition getting close to their D and great dive from Lindsay Thornhill ensured there was no likelihood of LU getting a last minute goal.
