Burneside 141 for 8
Shireshead 145 for 6
Shireshead hosted Burneside on the last day of August and picked up where they had left off the previous game.
Peter Wilson (3 for 24) bowled R Tattersall with his first ball to complete a hat-trick begun with his last two balls against Bolton-le-Sands on Bank Holiday Monday.
Wilson continued his superb recent form with the ball and Burneside were reduced to 19 for 4 inside the first 10 overs, but the experienced pair of R Davies (41) and D Batty (43) added 75 to steer their ship to calmer waters at 94 for 4.
Tom Jacques entered the attack to remove both batsmen and youngster Luke Bray chipped in with a wicket on his first team debut to return the impressive figures of 1 for 13 from his seven over spell.
J Ellwood struck a series of late boundaries to nudge Burneside to 141 for 8 at tea, and credit goes to Shireshead’s stand-in wicket-keeper Simon Gould after veteran Murphy suffered a late injury and young James Chippendale for his performance in the field.
Shireshead lost Jacques early in their reply but a series of steady partnerships meant Shireshead were always favourites to reach their target. Cameos from Wilson and Stephen Yates and a more substantial innings from Phil Oliver (33) supported by skipper Paul Yates’ (37 not out) ensured victory was secured.
