Successful winter as Academy boys shine in PE
Garstang Community Academy has had an extremely busy and successful winter in boys PE.
At the halfway stage of the academic year the school has 34 after-school fixtures – with athletics, handball, volleyball and cricket still to come. The percentage of wins for rugby, basketball and football is 70%,
There is an 84% win rate for basketball and an 80% win for rugby. More than 140 boys have been involved in after-school sport, which accounts for 32% of all the boys in the school.
The U16 team has had a fantastic tournament in the Wyre and Fylde Cup winning five out of five on their way to the district final. 16 players represented the team and contributed massively to the success of the team scoring 297 points in the process. The U16’s travelled across Wyre and Fylde and were undefeated until reaching the final where they finally tasted defeat in a stunning final against St Aidans.

The U15s basketball team had a great start to their first ever Lancashire Cup experience. With an unbeaten streak including 3 wins on the bounce, spirits are high in the team. The U14 team have just played their first game in the Wyre and Fylde District Cup, while the U13 team have been entered into the Lancashire Cup.
We are the only school in Wyre to enter Basketball Teams into the Lancashire Cup!
All three of the teams had a fantastic start in the E.S. Lancashire Cup. Year 9s and 10 won all three of their games with Year 8 winning two and losing one.
All three teams are now through to the quarter finals.
