Tough times for Frankie

GARSTANG’S Frankie Wrathall had a challenging time at Brands Hatch last weekend – more off the track than on.

Wrathall, last season’s winner of the Ginetta G50 Cup series, is now driving a brightly decked-out Toyota Avensis in the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship.

As a new recruit, he expected to be at the rear end of the grid for race one, but not because of problems with the car.

In free practice and qualifying, four laps was the most the car travelled before breaking down.

Wrathall did, however, manage 21st position on the grid for race one, ahead of Tony Hughes in a similar car.

He did not take any further part in the day’s racing after retiring on lap 13.
