The new president of Whitechapel and Inglewhite Bowling Club, Bill Catterall has officially opened the club’s 2015 season.
An event was held to mark the occasion and was well attended with 34 bowlers taking part in a friendly, doubles, scramble.
Norman Colthurst was presented with a prize for the highest score and Linda Christopherson was presented with a consolation Easter egg for the lowest.
Presenting the prizes, Bill also thanked members, friends and family for their support and he wished all bowlers a friendly and enjoyable year.
He commented how lucky they had been with the weather, as it was warm, dry and sunny - the best weather experienced at the opening for a number of years.
This was the second official event Bill had presided over, for the club has also held Annual Whist and Domino drive, which Bill opened and also won first prize playing dominoes.
“With two successes behind him it looks like he is in for a right good year,” said a club spokesperson.
