A wonderful programme is promised for the 21st Garstang Festival of Arts and Music from Monday, August 24 through to – Monday, August 31.

As varied and entertaining as ever, it climaxes on bank holiday Monday with the fifth town criers’ competition with entrants from all over the north competing in Cherestanc Square.

There is a jam packed mix of all sorts, be it ‘Musical Moments’ with John Gilmore on the soprano saxophone’; concerts by One Voice Community Choir, June Baker and Friends, Encore Opera and Elswick Singers; various poetry events; heritage walk; lecture by Prof James Dodding; rag rug workshop; Montmartre with local artists; Dean Taylor returning as Macbeth; street entertainers; art exhibition; Gillow Ukuleleans; quiz night and meal; Arctic talk; John Towers Big Band Night; craft and collectors’ fair; grand book fair; European craft day; Garstang Churches Songs of Praise; country market; muffin decorating; baby bounce; card design; craft exhibition; screen painting; printing workshops and more.
