Oh lordy… how about this for a shock for Blackpool theatre goers!

None other than Andrew Lloyd Webber joined the audience at the Opera House to enjoy a sensational performance of his hit musical Cats.

Lord Lloyd Webber, together with West End impresario Cameron Mackintosh, arrived unnoticed for last night’s show at the packed Winter Gardens venue.

But when his party returned to their seats after the interval the legendary musical theatre composer was quickly recognised and cheers broke out throughout the theatre.

After the show, which received a standing ovation from the 2,000-strong audience, Lord Lloyd Webber met the cast and crew.

The moment was a special one particularly for Jane McDonald whose stunning performance of the standout track Memory, in her role of Grizabella, brought the house down.

Cats runs at Blackpool Opera House until September 5.
