The UK’s best-selling classical artist is set to return to the North-West next year, following August’s Lytham Proms appearance with another Fylde coast date on his 2014 tour.

Russell Watson, who is set to appear at Preston Guild Hall on December 6, will be performing at the iconic Winter Gardens Opera House in the Fylde coast resort on Saturday, March 29.

Tickets for the Salford-born tenor’s Blackpool show will go on sale from 9am today, the date forming part of a massive UK tour for the popular performer in March.

He is also set to release his new album, Only One Man, this month, set for November 11.

The album and tour features brand new songs written specially for Russell Watson by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, the phenomenally-successful writers of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon.

Russell, about to celebrate his 47th birthday, has won four Classical Brit Awards and sold more than eight million records worldwide, and is also the first artiste to hold simultaneous number ones in the US and the UK.

Tickets for the Blackpool show cost from £25 to £85, and booking fees may apply. For more information and to book tickets visit or call the Winter Gardens box office on 0844 856 1111.

He has released singles and albums in both operatic and pop styles, the self-styled People’s Tenor singing since he was a child, becoming known after performing at a working men’s club.

Russell came to national attention in 1999, singing the national anthem at rugby league’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley, Barcelona at the last match of the Premiership season at Old Trafford, and a set of songs at the Champions League Final in Barcelona between Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
