A seaside fiesta will take over Morecambe promenade as a new festival celebrating world music and culture comes to the resort.
Morecambe Bay will become Montego Bay when the Seaside Fiesta begins on Sunday August 2.
It is something we are quite excited about and we want to turn it into an annual event – but ultimately build around a world music food festival
The World Music and Food festival will host live music, parades and food, craft and beer stalls celebrating worldwide cuisine and culture.
It will start at 12pm from The Battery where 250 Batala drummers from 17 countries will be banging their drums in the parade at The Bay Arena.
The Sounds of Samba Reggae will then make its way to The Bay Arena by 2pm and then to the Stone Jetty, right.
The event is free and organised by the Morecambe Events Co-operative with backing from Morecambe Town Council and The Bay radio.
The fiesta will last until 6pm with live music on the Melodrome stage.
David Brayshaw, chairman of organisers Morecambe Festivals Cooperativesaid: “It is something we are quite excited about and we want to turn it into an annual event – but ultimately build around a world music food festival.”
