A fifth straight defeat to finish the season for PNE

Preston North End take on West Brom on the final day of the Championship season.

It’s a full round of 12:30 kick offs in the second tier, with massive games in the promotion and play-off races - as well as the scrap for survival at the bottom of the table. Ryan Lowe’s side are looking to finish on a positive note, after losing their last four matches. The Lilywhites start the day in 10th place.

Johnston clips a free kick in from the right but it’s cleared by PNE, before Diangana shoots low and draws Woodman into a routine save. Booming noise inside the Hawthorns, as the home fans look to help their team get over the line and into the play-offs.

One thing of note for North End - it’s Browne at right wing back with Holmes next to Whatmough in central midfield.

The home side get the game under way with PNE - wearing yellow - kicking towards their travelling fans in the first half. West Brom were turned around at the coin toss.

Greg Cunningham also drops out of the 18, with Josh Seary brought into the squad.

Jordan Storey is back from illness and in the starting lineup, while Duane Holmes and Emil Riis also come in. Ryan Ledson drops out of the squad, as Robbie Brady and Milutin Osmajic are substitutes. Ben Whiteman, Ali McCann and Brad Potts are all still sidelined.

Final day permutations

Ipswich Town look set to secure automatic promotion, but Leeds United still have an outside chance.

Two of Norwich City, West Brom and Hull City will grab the final couple of play-off places, with Southampton already in there. One of Leeds or Ipswich will finish third.

At the bottom, 23rd placed Huddersfield are all-but relegated along with Rotherham United. Joining them in League One will be one of Birmingham, Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday or Blackburn.

Jordan Storey could return from illness for Preston, but Ben Whiteman, Ali McCann and Brad Potts are all still sidelined.

As for West Brom, Brandon Thomas-Asante is an injury concern (hamstring) while Matt Phillips was being monitored. Daryl Dike and ex-PNE man, Jayson Molumby, are both out.
