M6 lanes reopen after morning crash in Wigan

The lane closure was put in place after a crash at around 8.10am, which saw traffic officers attend the scene and arrange recovery for the stricken vehicle.
North West Ambulance has confirmed that they were not called to the collision, which has been described by traffic officers as 'damage-only'.

Hide AdThe agency said the lane closure was likely to remain in place until around 9.45am, but traffic officers were able to reopen the carriageway at 9.20am.
Highways England said snowy and icy conditions has led to difficult driving conditions on the region's roads and motorways this morning.
On the snow-hit M6 northbound in Cheshire, one lane was shut due to a stranded vehicle between junctions 18 (Holmes Chapel, Chester, Northwich, Middlewich) and 19 (Tabley, A556, Northwich).
The vehicle has since been recovered and all lanes reopened.

Hide AdThere are also reports of slow traffic due to snow on the M61 between junction 8 in Chorley and junction 4 in Farnworth. Live camera images show snow covering multiple lanes.
